Oh the process of deciding on a name….the struggle is real.
Are you the type that spends time really thinking of the perfect name for your home, your pets, your cars, even a house addition?
Maybe you think naming is silly…..I get it.
I come from a family where naming is a BIG deal. I have family members who are rock stars at creating the perfect name….me… not so much.
I literally have been trying to think of a name for months…no joke.
…I enlisted my family for help and there were many many names that were catchy and clever.
But…
…I kept coming back to the name PECAN.
When we moved into our home we were excited about the 4 large pecan trees that surrounded the house. They provide amazing shade in the afternoon and sine they are mature they are quite large. We had no idea what was involved in harvesting, maintaining or even shelling them, but we knew we would figure it out as we went.
So far they have been pretty low maintenance, and the harvest is pretty fun, it involves a tractor and a lot of bending over to pick pecans up off the ground.
One day, Mr. Main mentioned to his sister our dilemma in coming up with a name for the addition. She is actually the one who first said “The Suite Pecan.” It just seemed like a good fit.
I love the play on words. Hopefully we can make it a SWEET suite!

We name our houses also, and we purchased a lake house with two beautiful pecan trees in the front. The neighbors wanted to make sure that we were not going to cut those trees down. Of course we were not, that is one of the things that sold us on the house. I love the name.

I love that you name your houses too!! It is so fun. The pecan trees are really great for the shade, and of course, the nuts. The sap on our tress is a bit of a mess but other than that we love them. I bet your lake house is amazing! Thank for stopping by!

What a brilliant name. I love the play on words. Picking a name can be so tricky. It has to be perfect. I am so glad you managed to hit on the perfect name in the end.

I love pecans!!! My parents have a couple of pecan trees that are native to our area. They are so yummy. Suite pecan is a cute name. Hope you keep enjoying your trees.

They are so yummy! Have you guys tried making candied pecans, that is the best way to eat them!! They are so messy to harvest but it really is worth it. Thanks for stopping by!

I’ve never named a house… but I have named other things. My camera is “Baby.” My Middle Eastern drum is “Khanoum” (The Lady). Interesting read!

I think the Suite Pecan sounds amazing! I have never been one to name things, but I could totally see an amazing B&B with a suite name like that! Can’t wait to see the finished product!

I actually like that you name things like that, I think that’s really cool! It’s also nice learning about where names came from. My sister actually named her Kitchen Aid mixer, so I know it’s a big deal for some!

I also find it hard to name things because the name should really reflect the image and the meaning of it. I like the suite pecan because it’s not something that’s often thought of. It sounds unique and has a play of words.

How very interesting!! My Grandmother used to keep a bowl of Pecans on the living room or dining room tables at all times! We would snack on them throughout the day but I must say I haven’t had any in so long…I may need to go find some 🙂

They are the best snack. I love those kind of memories from grandmas. My grandma always had these little chocolate stars. I haven’t ever seen them anywhere else. It was the best treat when she would go down into the cellar and let us have a few chocolate stars!

Yes! I always name my homes, my car, even the rooms of my house! Ha! So glad to see someone who discerns the seriousness of doing so… who takes her time and mulls over each candidate of a Title for weeks. We have lived in 6 homes since marrying, and every single one has a name… so much easier to say, “When we lived in Blueberry Cottage…” or “”Remember the guest room in the Boat House?” I am really enjoying your blog, found this morning at 2am from an Instagram post (was awakened with back pain, did exercises while scrolling thru IG). I will be back… I love what you are doin’ in the Pecan Suite!

Yay for naming homes! It makes referencing each place so much easier. Thanks so much for following along! Hope you had a great weekend!
