Hope you all had a great weekend! I was away visiting my newest little niece, who is adorable by the way. I have forgotten how small and sweet little newbies are. It was really fun to get away for a couple of days and relax.
Our little 1950’s house is starting to feel more like a home. I have a few more updates that I need to share with all of you.
One of the biggest most frustrating things about this house is the lack of storage. I often wonder where did they put everything back in the day, I mean seriously, we have NO storage. All of the closets in the bedrooms are the basic one shelf along the top and a bar to hang clothes.
And actually, when we bought the house one of the bedrooms didn’t even have a closet at all.
I am a girl who needs storage.
I will admit that I am not very organized ( I am trying to work on it) and I could probably be better at working with what storage I do have.
But wow, it’s tricky.
I do however have a few projects in mind in order to help me gain more storage and hopefully better organized.
I am curious are you super organized or are you like me, always in a mess?
Now don’t get me wrong, my house is clean.
I do clean it.
But what happens in between cleans is usually a tidy-ish house.
My biggest problem is I don’t put stuff back. Part of not putting it back is because I don’t have a good spot to put it back too.
I found it from a random drawer and when I finally get around to putting it back it may end up in the same random drawer or a different one.
One thing that I did make last year was my command center and that has helped, a lot.
One of my biggest goals this year is to get my life organized. I want to be able to find things when I need them. And I want to be better about putting them back where they belong.
Honestly if I did that alone, my house would be so much more tidy!
Part of getting my life organized is to finished projects that are on my to do list and to get those projects done that are partially started.
Today I am going to share with you one of those projects. I got this little table from a friend a few months ago.
It sat outside for a few weeks.
Then I decided to bring it in and move it around a few different places before I decided on the perfect spot.
I knew that I would be giving it a makeover but, life happened and this little table sat right here for another few weeks before I finally decided to get this project done.
I didn’t take any in progress shots (what was I thinking) but I can give you the quick run down of
what I did.
I used my electric palm sander to sand the entire top. Since I wanted to re-stain it, I sanded all the way down to the bare wood.
I started with a rougher grit sandpaper, 100, and then worked my way down to 120, 220,400. After I was done with the 400 I did a quick sand with some steel wool. Doing this extra step with the steel wool was just my personal preference. I used a tack cloth to remove any extra dust particles before I added the stain.
I used Rust-Oleum’s wood stain in Carrington. I wiped it on and wiped it right off using a rag. After the stain had dried according to the directions on the back of the can, I used a natural bristle brush and brushed on the polyurethane. After the first coat of poly was dry I sanded it lightly with the steel wool. I then used tack cloth again to remove extra dust before I added one more coat of poly!
This thing is so smooth, I love it!! The color is perfect and I am really happy with the way that it turned out.
What do you think of my new-ish coffee table? Have you ever refinished furniture before?
Thanks for stopping by today!

It looks really nice! I would have never thought of just sanding and staining it. I'm not as organized as I want to be, but I'm also slowly making a place for everything. I wish I knew how to use some power tools though. I would love to fix up my own furniture pice!

Thanks Jessica!! I can totally relate to not being organized!! It is a work in progress for me too! I would start out by getting a jig saw! I use mine all the time and it is a great starter tool that can used for so many projects!! Let me know when you get your first furniture makeover done!!

Good information. I like when a person can do something around the house with his own hands. I love everything related to the beauty industry. For those who are interested, I can recommend these beauty courses, where they teach various procedures that are used in spa salons.

I had a good weekend visiting this spa. I really liked how you gave a new look to your pieces of furniture. This is a very good hobby when doing housework.

I recently had brunch at this fantastic spot, and I can’t recommend it enough. From the moment we walked in, the vibe was just right—warm and inviting with a touch of rustic charm. I went for their classic eggs Benedict, and it was outstanding. The hollandaise sauce was perfectly creamy and rich, and the eggs were cooked to absolute perfection. My friend ordered the smoked salmon bagel, which was fresh, flavorful, and topped with just the right amount of cream cheese and capers. The fresh fruit on the side added a nice, refreshing touch. The service was top-notch, with friendly staff who made sure we were well taken care of. If you’re in the mood for a memorable brunch, be sure to https://whitehorsetavern1880.com/brunch/.
